BRIDGTON-LAKE REGION ROTARY CLUB

As the Rotary Club of Bridgton-Lake Region moves into its 20th year of community service, we are well positioned to continue the effort in helping those in need, and bettering our local community as well as the international community.  Our strength lies in our members and support from all of you.

While every service organization faces the current challenges of recruiting and retaining members in  a difficult economy, our club is as strong as ever.  I continue to be amazed at the generosity, commitment, and drive of the members, which I believe grows as the community continues to call upon the club for its diverse needs.

Last year our club embarked on a new vision.  This multi-year vision provides us with a focused mission and clearer goals.  Past club President, Carmen Lone, did a great job leading the club to develop this “vision”, and we completed the most recent year, meeting or exceeding, all set goals.

Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith has asked us to support Literacy, Child Safety, Clean Water and Humanitarian projects both at home and around the world.  We have been promoting Literacy with our Dictionary Project, provided funding through a grant to educate the community on shaken baby syndrome under a project called "Period of Purple Crying" and we adopted a Sudanese village offering financial support for their efforts to provide clean water and basic healthcare needs.

Our club has been identified as being energetic and effective communicators, while maintaining a good sense of humor.  Every Rotarian is challenged to live by our motto of “service above self” and our Four Way Test:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Come join us in making a difference.

Mody Botros
2010-2011 President
